Alloys are materials made by combining two or more metallic elements to create a new material with enhanced properties, such as increased strength or corrosion resistance. Common examples of alloys include steel (iron and carbon) and brass (copper and zinc). Composite materials are made by combining two or more different materials to create a new material with unique properties that are different from the individual components. Alloys are more stable than pure metals because they have a more uniform and consistent structure. The addition of different elements to the metal matrix disrupts the regular arrangement of atoms, making it more difficult for dislocations to move through the material. This results in increased strength and resistance to deformation, making alloys more stable and durable than pure metals. Additionally, the presence of different elements in the alloy can also lead to the formation of new phases, which can further enhance its stability and properties. **
